OMG! #ChatGPT makes the same mistake as a child when solving a math equivalence problem! I’m giddy w/ excitement about discovering this. Awesome. @MCLStrainee @mwalibali @cbhornburg @mpershan @FyfeEmily @PKatACE @devlin_brianna @sarahpowellphd

Okay I had an interaction with students that didn't feel great so I'm looking for some help with another #TeacherTuneUp.
What do you do with the math that students just have to remember?

English

@Desmos I've relied on this for a long time for LaTeX coding: codecogs.com/latex/eqnedito…
English

@Desmos is there a way in AB to make an action button that zooms in on a graph at a certain point? I'd like to have a text input and a graph on the same AB screen and want students to be able to interact with the graph and then comment on it.
English

@Desmos i see it now. I would never have know how to use that syntax to define the "mod" function. Are there any other calculator functions that need to be similarly defined in CL?
English

@NB_Mathematics Great question! I've added the explanation to a note component within the activity. teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilde…
English

@Desmos I'm having some trouble parsing what this line of code in the action button does:
mod = simpleFunction(`\operatorname{mod}\left(x,y\right)`,`x`,`y`)
Any help?
English

@Desmos Thanks! I combined a few ideas and came up with this: teacher.desmos.com/activitybuilde…

@ddmeyer @KenyaLLawrence @Desmos @Amplify if the calculator & AB will now be separate, will that have any impact on how the calculator functions INSIDE of AB?
English

@KenyaLLawrence @Desmos @Amplify Thanks for the q, Kenya. I think things look good personally. The calculator & tools are in a separate entity getting more love and attention. The activities & Builder have loads more resources within Amplify. Everything that's free stays free. I'm pretty excited personally.

📣 I'm enormously proud of everything @Desmos has accomplished in math education over the last 10 years and I'm very excited we're joining @Amplify to do even more over the next 10. twitter.com/Desmos/status/…

📣 Exciting news. Desmos Classroom—the team running our free activities, free Activity builder, and math curriculum—is joining forces with @Amplify. desmos.link/desmos-amplify

The idea of a 3 Act Math Task is what initially got us started on this journey to @MakeMathMoments in our math class.

Why I hate taking days off - reason #87
Yesterday my sub gave my 9th grade Prob/Stat class an AP Statistics test, and gave my AP Stats class the 9th grade assessment.
Good times.
English

@NB_Mathematics @Desmos I would need to take a deeper dive into the documentation, but you may need to use stdevp in this case.
English

@bobloch @MathTechCoach @Desmos so blue dots represent double roots, green complex, red two rational, and yellow irrational.
Love. it.
English

@bobloch how do you run that? What games? Do students get fake currency?
English

@shapeoperator @MrCorleyMath @eluberoff @carlblong @Desmos @mrchowmath great way to describe it. Let me check my understanding: y2=y1[x1>0] would create a subset of y values whose corresponding x values were positive.
English

@NB_Mathematics @MrCorleyMath @eluberoff @carlblong @Desmos @mrchowmath My mental model for this: the predicate in the square brackets creates a true/false “mask”. Elements of the list being indexed are kept/discarded where the mask is true/false.
