Well said!
Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal

The CEO of Take-Two, the company behind GTA, just said something the entire AI industry doesn't want to hear. And he said it without being anti-AI. Strauss Zelnick's argument is precise. AI is built on datasets. Datasets are backward-looking. Creativity is forward-looking. A model trained on everything that already exists cannot, by definition, produce something genuinely unexpected. And all hits, by their very nature, are unexpected. Asset creation and hit creation are not the same thing. AI is getting very good at the first one. The second one is what actually makes money, builds franchises, and changes culture. Nobody has shown AI can do that yet. The derivative property problem is real. You can clone GTA with existing technology. You could do it before AI. It would take 3 years and look identical. It still wouldn't sell. Because it isn't GTA. It's a clone of GTA. And consumers, despite what the industry occasionally pretends, can feel the difference between something genuinely new and something assembled from the residue of things that already worked. Thousands of mobile games ship every year. 0 to 5 hits get made. The same studios make them every time. The technology to make more games has been commoditized for years. It didn't democratize hit creation. It just flooded the market with more forgettable product. The Silicon Valley thesis that AI unlocks game creation for everyone is true in the same way that cheap cameras unlocked filmmaking for everyone. They did. And the same 5 studios still make the movies everyone watches. What Zelnick is saying, without quite saying it, is that the thing AI cannot replicate is taste. The instinct for what hasn't been done yet. The cultural antenna that detects the gap in the market before the data can see it. Data tells you what people wanted. Hits tell people what they want next. Those are different jobs.

Day #10 & #11 Building an MMORPG as a solo indie dev in @threejs @rustlang @sveltejs We're still working on polishing up the Character/Inventory/Equipment systems. The UX is now feeling really good, but there's still a lot of UI polishing to do. We also started skinning the menu UI with a much lighter high fantasy skin for both the Character screen and Library. - Items/Food/Equipment/Buffs now affect player stats - Combat now affected by player food/equipment/buffs/items - UI Overhaul #gamedev #indiedev #indiegames

I was laid off a couple weeks ago.. 25 Years of experience as a software/game/fintech engineer. Replaced by a guy in product with 0 experience, but he has a claude subscription at 1/8th the cost(true story). I received 6 months severance at least, and I'm the happiest I've been in a long time. I'm using this runway to go all in on myself and #indiegames. I'm done building others dreams only to watch them run away with my work to find success. If you want to follow my journey over the coming months as I put all of my experience to work building a Final Fantasy XI inspired MMORPG solo, follow and come along! It would mean the world to me!

Men playing games for a few hours a week was never the real problem. People binge Netflix for 6 hours straight and nobody says a word. Someone hops on a game after work and suddenly it’s a “crisis.” If the bills are paid, the kids are happy, the relationship is healthy, and life is handled… it’s called having a hobby.

AEW mourns the loss of Ted Turner and sends our condolences. A pioneer of TV and founder of TBS & TNT, Turner championed pro wrestling on his networks since the 1970's. AEW proudly continues that tradition, and we dedicate Wednesday Night Dynamite tonight on TBS to his memory.

It’s taken me two full days to respond to all my texts. I hadn’t been on social media until today and I’m overwhelmed by all the messages here too. So much love. So I can’t help but to be filled completely with gratitude… My story has been nothing short of remarkable and I am truly blessed to have had such an illustrious, accolade-laden and, most importantly, fun-filled career. I made my childhood dream become the most wonderful reality. Throughout this journey, I’m so thankful to have been surrounded by great friends and to have built so many unbreakable connections with people that I’m very proud to call my family. Most people go through life without ever experiencing a love like I have for Woods and E. That bond alone would have made this whole experience worth it. There are far too many people to mention by name here, but to everyone who has ever supported me, guided me, helped me, taught me, cheered for me, praised me, stood up for me, and even rooted against me: Thank you. I appreciate you more than words can say. My main mission has always been a simple one: To provide a comfortable life filled with heartwarming memories for my family. And, largely in part to all of you, I can proudly say that I have achieved that goal and more. This wasn’t supposed to be a novel, so let me wind it down with some advice: Do your best to live a life without regrets, control what you can control, always give it your all, and fight hard for what you believe in. Do not ever compromise or accept less than your due when it comes to your worth. Find the courage to believe in yourself and fearlessly pursue your goals and dreams, because anything is possible. The kid that was too small, short, skinny, and scrawny was never supposed to make it in this land of giants…yet here we are. And so… …as the sun sets on one chapter, so too must it rise in another. Tomorrow is indeed…a New Day. ☀️

For the past 16 years, WWE has been my home. It’s where I grew up, found myself, failed, learned, and got to live out things the younger version of me could only dream about. When I first walked into FCW, I just wanted a chance to prove I belonged and to bring something different to professional wrestling. That chance became a life full of moments I’ll carry with me forever — WrestleMania, championships, King of the Ring, arenas around the world, and the gift of connecting with all of you by being myself. The New Day gave me a bond with @TrueKofi and @WWEBigE that I’ll cherish for life. You believed in us, even when our ideas were wild, and because of that, we got to show people that being unapologetically yourself is a strength. UpUpDownDown became another piece of that same mission: a place for joy, friendship, and humanity. I’m so thankful to everyone, past and present, who helped build it brick by brick. To the locker room, producers, trainers, crew, camera teams, ring crew, everyone behind the scenes, and the props department - thank you. WWE has the most special and hardest working props department that youll ever find. Love you guys and none of this happens without you. And to everyone who has been part of this ride: thank you for believing in me. Thank you for letting me be Xavier Woods. Thank you for giving me the confidence… to walk away as Austin Creed.

TKO, as an entity, has a major task on its hands right now: it has to win the hardcore fans back. They may care about the casuals, the top line, the mainstream fans, celebrities, and influencers. They may not care about the hardcores now—but they will start to worry about them when the casuals become hardcores, which is what they want. The letters TKO are becoming somewhat stained in the eyes of wrestling, MMA, and boxing fans. We should never be talking about TKO as fans—that’s the parent company. They’re ruining the sanctity of what we love so much. The mat now has ads everywhere. The table has ads everywhere. The apron has ads everywhere. There are no more backstage vignettes, no more interviews, and entrances are being lost—it doesn’t feel the same anymore.

The hall of fame speech from @StephMcMahon, was phenomenal. It shows just how much she loves the business, the product, the fans, the community and everything in between. She really is the ambassador of @WWE in my opinion.

@Myprotein I am curious to know how an increase of 200g in your product equates to a price rise of more than £15?! My subscription is up from £42 to £64 for 200g (2.5kg to 2.7kg) more. That’s a 52% increase in price for an 8% increase in product.
