Following a comprehensive audit of our #NCAA bracket, we’ve concluded that the initial projections were not prepared in accordance with generally accepted March Madness principles. There were significant errors in judgment, including improper valuation of mid-majors and a complete failure to account for ‘Cinderella’ volatility. As a result, we are issuing an immediate restatement of all #FinalFour assumptions and recognizing a total loss on several “sure thing” investments. Our internal controls clearly failed—specifically, an overconfidence bias and a lack of independence from hype. At this time, we are entering a rebuilding phase and shifting to a ‘just enjoy the games’ strategy. We appreciate your patience during this difficult reporting period.

⚠️ Board Meeting Update – March 16 The Board will hold its scheduled meeting today and will cover all agenda items as planned. However, due to the threat of severe weather expected in our area later today, the meeting will be conducted as efficiently as possible and is expected to be brief. Our goal is to complete the necessary business while ensuring everyone can travel safely. 🎉 A Milestone Worth Celebrating! 🎉 On this day in 1913, the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners was officially created, marking the beginning of more than a century of protecting the public and advancing the accounting profession in North Carolina. For over 100 years, the Board has worked to ensure that North Carolina CPAs meet the highest standards of competence, integrity, and professionalism. From administering the CPA Exam to licensing and regulating the profession, that mission remains just as important today as it was in 1913. Here’s to the vision that started it all, and to the generations of CPAs who continue to uphold that legacy every day.

Applied for your CPA license and checking the meeting agenda for your name? If you don’t see it yet, don’t worry—there are a couple of reasons why that’s normal. The names shown on the meeting agenda appear as part of the prior month’s meeting minutes. That means the names listed are applicants who were approved at the previous meeting, not applicants who will be approved at the upcoming meeting. CPA license applications are processed in the order they’re received, and the full review process takes time. Please allow at least six weeks for your application to be received, reviewed, processed, and approved.

The Board will meet at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026, at its office on Oberlin Rd.
