Taxpayer privacy is a cornerstone of the U.S. tax system. The IRS must protect all taxpayers’ information, including ITIN holders, who are entrepreneurs, homeowners, business owners and economic contributors.

Propublica’s investigation of the IRS-DHS data sharing agreement confirms what 90+ Members of Congress told the Appeals Court—DHS is seeking 7 million immigrant taxpayer IRS records in violation of taxpayer confidentiality laws. This is blatantly illegal.
