So today begins a new era in my group’s research as we venture into the role of EBV and HERVs in the pathogenesis of MS. Collaborating with the wonderful @RTarlinton, @BrunoGran2, @RaduTanasescu1. Keep your eye’s peeled, we’ll be updating regularly.

Central vein sign #CVS on MRI likely will decrease misdiagnosis of MS. Useful to predict radiological isolated syndrome conversion to MS. Studies ongoing to see if #CVS should be added to MS diagnostic criteria. @nikosevangelou3 #ECTRIMS2021

Iron rims seem to be prognostically important. Poster P474, reports 10 year clinical study of iron rim in WM lesions in 90 patients and found both EDSS and ARMSS were 1 step higher if patients had IRL at baseline. #ECTRIMS2021 @HibbertAimee @Cneurospirt @majudah

Domestic abuse is a much under recognised and under reported major problem in MS clinics. I have just been made aware of one more patient from our MS clinic that needs support. We are on it. @NUHNeuro

🌈 This evening, the QMC will be light up in rainbow colours, as #TeamNUH remembers all of the lives lost and all those affected by the pandemic. 💙 The last twelve months have been difficult for so many, and we hope that better, brighter days will be here soon.

The government have announced 1.7 million more people will be added to the shielded patient list in England. This means some people currently in vaccine priority group 6 (which includes everyone with MS under 65) will now be moved up into group 4 and advised to shield. (1/4)
