On this May Day 20 years ago, both the Czech Republic and Slovakia joined the European Union (EU). Promoting democratic values in its member nations, the EU grew out of a desire to strengthen economic and political cooperation in the wake of WWII.

Today's naturalization ceremony at NCSML welcomed 54 new U.S. citizens from 30 counties. NCSML is proud to host this ceremony each year as its own founding 50 years ago was by second and third-generation descendants of Czech and Slovak immigrants. Congratulations to all!

To keep everyone safe during the ongoing severe winter weather, NCSML will be closed again on Saturday, January 13. The guided tour of Brilliant Bohemian Garnets has been moved to Sunday, January 14 at 1 p.m.
