This past week, Alamance Co. Sheriff Terry Johnson presented Deputy Joseph Care with the agency’s Lifesaving Award. On April 20 Deputy Care responded to a call for an unconscious person where he performed CPR until EMS arrived and helped save the victim's life! Great job, deputy!

Today, North Carolina’s annual Peace Officers Memorial Service was held in Statesville, NC. Sheriffs and sheriffs’ office personnel, local and state law enforcement officials, and Association staff attended the service along with many others to honor our state’s fallen heroes.

As further details about yesterday's tragic incident in Charlotte come to light, we ask that you continue to keep the families, friends, and colleagues of the four fallen law enforcement officers in your thoughts and prayers.

Today's horrific murder of three members of the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force and the wounding of five additional officers is an outrageous tragedy. This incident is an example of the extreme danger that law enforcement officers face every day while serving our communities.

Sheriff Curtis Brame of Vance County (left) received his Advanced Service Award today from the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission. Sheriff Brame has served in law enforcement for 44.5 years, serving as sheriff of Vance County since 2018.
