NCTCOG EP and regional CERT members were able to attend the 2025 National CERT Conference held in Indianapolis, Indiana last week.  They had a great time training, networking, exercising, and learning new things to bring back to our region!

Yesterday at the North Central Texas EM Working Group we were able to recognize outgoing chair Shawna Lemley. Thank you for your regional leadership Shawna! Also welcome new EM chair Jarod Rosson (Rockwall County), another great regional meeting and lots of great work happening!

Congratulations to our 2025 NCTCOG Regional Excellence Award recipients who were announced at our EPPC meeting this morning! This year’s recipients included Dave McCurdy (former EMC Tarrant County), Burleson CERT, For Worth Hospital Group, Marina Bustillo, and TEEM Leadership.

David McCurdy, recently retired EMC at the Tarrant County, was inducted into the Texas Emergency Management Hall of Fame today at the 2025 Texas Emergency Management Awards Ceremony! Congrats Dave on a well deserved recognition and thank you for your endless dedication!

Today at Executive Board, we were proud to present Burleson CERT the FEMA Region 6 Community Preparedness Award for the Whole Community—a prestigious honor spanning 5 states that recognizes exceptional commitment to community-based emergency preparedness. Congrats Burleson CERT!

Congrats to the Denton County Office of Emergency Management, Denton County VOAD, Denton County Long Term Recovery Committee, and Denton County United Way for receiving the 2024 EMAT Excellence in Emergency Management Award!

Congrats to the NCTCOG Emergency Management GIS Response Team led by David Allen & Amanda Everly for receiving the EMAT Emergency Management Innovation Award!! Their work for the 2024 Solar Eclipse Event Map successfully engaged regional stakeholders in for the solar eclipse!
