Republicans are currently trying to pass a bill to deputize state employees to act as ICE agents. Democrats introduced an amendment to require due process. Republicans tabled it. They don’t want to publicly vote on preserving due process and we know why.

Republicans in NC have written a bare bones budget on the heels of National Republicans slashing Medicaid. More tax cuts for the rich while Trump and Musk cut federal funding. The GOP cannot fund state agencies just enough to keep NC’s head above water with storms on the horizon.

Today we are hearing about the proposed budget, which includes massive cuts to programs that North Carolinians rely on. This is a direct result of tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.

HB606 carves out gender affirming care as the only procedure where a patient can sue for noneconomic damages with no cap. @priceyharrison filed an amendment to lift the cap for ALL medical procedures. Republicans voted it down. This bill is not about care. It is about hate.

Things that we could be spending time on today instead of unnecessary anti-trans bills: • Raising Teacher Pay • Funding the DMV • Maternal health • Cost of groceries • Affordable Childcare Transgender people are less than 1% of the US population. Why is this our focus?
