Thoughts on the morning drive… Well, I’m gonna tell you right now: If you’re looking for work, we are hiring! Yep, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama has openings available right now, and they’re filling up fast, let me tell ya. We’ve hired a number of Assistant U.S. Attorneys, support staff, and others. But folks, we’ve got positions in our office for legal assistants, paralegals, administrative staff, HR staff, contracting officers, and, certainly, attorneys. So, if you’re game to join the biggest law firm in the world, do things that actually impact your culture, and be part of a team that actually does stuff every single day that would boggle the minds of your neighbors, then come on down! We want you! We are hiring!

Some thoughts on the morning drive…….Operation Take Back America is in full swing! If you’re not familiar with it let me introduce you to Operation Take Back America….immediately upon taking office in early 2025 President Trump directed that there be a whole of government approach to restoring order in our country. One of those is the Department of Justice initiative which we now know as Operation Take Back America. It empowers folks in my position as US Attorneys, and in the offices of our various federal partners to “repel the invasion of illegal immigration”……”eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations”…..”establish homeland security task forces”…..and to “restore the death penalty”. It has been highly effective with the border being shut down, illegal immigrant criminals being deported, and the amount of cartel driven drugs on our streets going down. My office had another win in the Operation Take Back America arena this past week when an Arizona resident named Ignacio Castillo pleaded guilty in his attempt to traffic over 20,000 Carfentanil pills in Birmingham. Evidence found in the investigation also tied Castillo to Cartel activity to include video on his phone of a cartel decapitation.  Castillo is off our streets now, and will be for a long long time. Operation Take Back America is in full swing my friends. …..thoughts on the morning drive!

Thoughts on the morning drive…..voter ID is so important.....and so easy! Did you see the news yesterday about the State of New Jersey "discovering " over 6600 illegals and foreign nationals were registered to vote in their state?! And to make it worse over 600 of the had already voted! I had friends in both local and State elections who lost their races by ONE vote! This matters! Funny thing is....we were told that doesn't happen. My suspicion is that the DOJ was already investigating NJs voting rolls and the Governor realized the jig was up. She's taking the classic route of trying to get ahead of the message. It does happen. Especially in sanctuary states. In Alabama we have a voter ID requirement and a Secretary of State who cares deeply about it. I was proud to help pass the voter ID law when I was in the State Senate. It was common sense then, and it wasn't hard to do. Even still, my office just prosecuted two foreign nationals who voted in our state elections. If it can happen here you can bet it was happening in New Jersey on epic scale. And all that does is water down your constitutional right to participate in free and fair elections at every level. Election integrity matters! Thoughts on the morning drive!

Thoughts on the morning drive…..What do we do about liars and cheats who do so at taxpayer expense? A good friend of mine, a fellow Attorney, used to tell the jury in closing arguments to gauge the truthfulness of the witnesses. He would say that his Grandad used to tell him: “you lie about a little, you’ll lie about a lot.” Fraud is a crime of lies….of cheats…..of misrepresenting facts and circumstances in order to gain something that isn’t rightfully yours. And the US taxpayers lose billions every year to fraudulent activity. The Department of Justice has a new National Fraud Enforcement Division….and President Trump has named Vice President Vance as the nation’s “Fraud Czar”. You’ve heard about the massive fraud in Minnesota with fake daycare centers, and fake home health centers. They were raking in hundreds of millions in taxpayer funds. But it’s not just out there in places like Minnesota and California…..it’s right here in Sweet Home Alabama! Everything from massive tax fraud, loan fraud, Medicare fraud, trade fraud, and more…..some by illegal aliens, and some by US citizens. My office is working on cases that we will announce soon that will boggle your mind. All of that is fraud with taxpayer funds that are going to liars and cheats. And we are putting a stop to the gravy train! This job is awesome…..thoughts on the morning drive!

AUSA Daniel McBrayer had the opportunity to speak to students at the FBI Birmingham Teen Academy about the work of the U.S Attorney’s Office. The U.S. Attorney’s Office - Northern District of Alabama is proud to support the Teen Academy, where students from across the region spent the week exploring careers in federal law enforcement, building leadership skills and learning what it means to serve their communities. From hands-on activities to conversations with FBI special agents and professional staff, Teen Academy gives students a unique look at the mission of the FBI and the importance of community partnerships in keeping our neighborhoods safe. We’re grateful for the young leaders who participated—your curiosity, commitment, and enthusiasm make a difference. Thank you to the @FBIBirmingham for continuing to invest in the next generation.

Thoughts on the morning drive…….illegal aliens driving 18-wheeled commercial trucks is a really bad idea! You’ve probably seen some of the stories of illegal aliens being granted a CDL by certain sanctuary states. We too often hear that these drivers can’t read road signs, don’t know the rules of the road, and have no business getting behind the wheel of big rig freight hauler. A number of these cases have resulted in innocent bystanders and other drivers being killed by unqualified commercial drivers. The Alabama State Legislature passed a state law recently that mandates English-language proficiency – kudos to them!  Apparently, it was needed because in the last year and a half the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency issued over 500 citations for non-English speaking drivers, and referred over 200 drivers to ICE. Well, now the US Department of Homeland Security is ramping up its efforts at the federal level by investigating driving schools that rubber stamp the certificates of completion for people who are not qualified to drive, to include illegal aliens. My office is staying on top of this issue and will continue to do so. Illegal aliens have no business in the business of commercial freight hauling! Thoughts on the morning drive!

Thoughts on the morning drive….. How do we deal with Antifa and other domestic terror groups?   Yesterday I listened to Secretary of State Marco Rubio give one of the best speeches I have ever heard! It was like Ronald Reagan mixed with Teddy Roosevelt as he spoke to an international gathering at the US Security Ministerial. The topic was centered on the long ignored, and even excused, rise of violent leftist extremism. Marxists, anarchists, Antifa, radical Islamists, and anti-western ideologues who riot, loot, burn and even kill in the name of their hate for western society. This past year President Trump signed National Security Presidential Memorandum #7 (NSPM 7) and it directs a whole of government approach to finding and stopping the purveyors of leftist violence. No longer will we pat them on the head and say "largely peaceful protests" while cities burn. It's a whole new day. And if you like hearing that....then please go listen to Rubios speech. You'll be ready to stand your ground too!   Thoughts on the morning drive!

Thoughts on the morning drive…..   Have you ever heard of a “Fed Head” meeting? As a US Attorney I have some amazing partners in the fights against crime and the hostile acts of foreign and domestic enemies.   Recently my office, the US Attorneys Office for the Northern District of Alabama, hosted what we call a “Fed Head” meeting. We had senior representatives there from the FBI, Secret Service, DEA, ATF, US Marshalls, Homeland Security, IRS, Postal Inspectors, Army CID, and ICE. Our offices work very well together, and when I say they are our federal partners, I mean just that. The synergies among our respective staffs are incredible!   These are amazing people doing amazing things every single day…..more often than not it’s their work, often unsung and unnoticed, that keeps life as we know it in balance.   I’m proud to be a US Attorney, and even more so knowing the caliber of people I get to work with every day.   Thoughts on the morning drive!
