WHAT MOVES THE NEEDLE? Every coach wants a new drill, a new play, a new scheme. The truth is, that is not what moves the needle. What moves the needle is going all in on a few things and then refusing to budge on those things. Shot quality, decision making, spacing, effort on defense, communication. You don't need 50 drills. You need a handful things that you do every day with intention that are layered really well. It's not necessarily yelling about toughness. It's training it when players are tired. Training it every day, doing it every day, being it every day. Not installing more things, but executing better on the things that you're already doing. Over time, it takes so much time. Takes a lot longer than a lot of us think. The hard part is you don't get credit for what you almost emphasize. You only get credit for the things that you demand on a daily basis, every single day, refusing to budge. So if you want real improvement, ask yourself, what actually moves the needle for us? And then, are we brave enough to go all in on it? Simplicity wins. Don't overcomplicate it.
