EFF Lodges BCCSA Complaint Against Moja Love’s 'Zimoja Daily'
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has filed a formal complaint with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) against Moja Love TV, alleging that an episode of Zimoja Daily broadcast on or around 9 May 2026 contained misleading, politically biased, and prejudicial commentary aimed at the party.
EFF national spokesperson Commissar Thembi Msane said the segment dismissed the party’s celebration of a recent Constitutional Court ruling on the Phala Phala matter, misrepresented facts, and used dismissive Afrikaans slang alongside a graphic urging viewers to “vote wisely” ahead of the November 2026 local government elections. The EFF also claims it was denied a right to reply.
The party argues the broadcast violated several clauses of the BCCSA Code of Conduct, including those on truthful presentation (Clause 9), fairness (Clause 11), balance on controversial public issues (Clause 12), and respect for lawful institutions.
The EFF is demanding the immediate withdrawal of the episode, a public apology from Moja Love TV, and an opportunity to respond on the same platform. As of Monday afternoon, Moja Love (operated by Siyaya Free-to-Air TV on MultiChoice Channel 157) had not issued a public response.
The BCCSA is expected to assess the complaint according to its standard procedures.
This is not the first time Zimoja Daily has faced scrutiny, though previous complaints were unrelated. The case highlights ongoing tensions between the EFF and sections of the media amid South Africa’s polarised political landscape, with national local elections set for 4 November 2026.
