@kabuniversity The Ag. ED @min_waterUg / @NFAUG handed over the site with Echuya CFR to Kabale University. A license had been signeded earlier which will guide research and other forestry activities in the forest.

We have signed an MOU with the National Forest Authority @NFAUG today. Kabale University is allocated some land within Echuya Forest so that it may establish a research center there. This will enhance hands-on training and skill development. This site will benefit the Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, the Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management, and other academic units.

On the Kenyan side, implementation will be supported by the Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT), strengthening cross-border conservation cooperation.

The area is known for its rich biodiversity and importance to local livelihoods. Support will include one sector vehicle and two motorcycles to improve patrols, field operations, and community engagement, contributing to forest restoration and climate resilience.

Yesterday in Kikuube, I welcomed @JudithNabakoob1 and @gracemarymugasa ,@AngaliaGodwin alongside district leaders and security teams, to protect Bugoma Central Forest Reserve. The 2023 boundary survey is complete; pillar planting follows. With 21 claimants covering 36%.

@SpireJim Masaka District Land Board & Ministry of Lands, Housing & Urban Dev’t issued land titles in Mujuzi Forest. To address encroachment, @NFAUG encountered so far 3 land titles covering a total of about 500 acres (area under destruction) & efforts are underway to get them cancelled.

The challenge focuses on empowering communities with sustainable waste-sorting practices that improve cleanliness, public health, and overall waste management. @AllenAyebare , our Chief Manager of Sustainability, speaking at the launch, said: “Centenary Bank is truly a people’s bank. We are proud to partner with KCCA on the Weyonje campaign, contributing UGX 20 million, with each division receiving UGX 4 million. We are excited to support this initiative and grateful to KCCA led by @KCCAED @Buzeki_Sharifah for the continued guidance on improving our own waste management practices, especially in proper waste sorting. 13 of our branches in Kampala now have separated waste bins, and our focus now is on staff sensitization.
