Saw this late last night and this is insanely good deal for the Cubs. Even If he's an 85 WRC+ player, his defensive and base running value would still cover the AAV on this contact. If he's anywhere near the ceiling we saw last year, this is one of the best contracts in baseball

Center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and the Chicago Cubs are in agreement on a six-year, $115 million contract extension, sources tell ESPN. The deal starts in 2027 and does not include a club option, allowing Crow-Armstrong to hit free agency before his age-31 season.

Once you get to round 3, I’d absolutely take a flyer-hes more talented IMO than your typical 3rd round QB. Just don’t see how you can possibly risk taking him before then given historical track record

And full disclosure: I also had Simpson ahead of Mendoza at the mid season point. But then he A.) got worse as teams saw more film and B.) his body broke down. Which are exactly the top 2 concerns you would have about an undersized, inexperienced QB

For all the nonsense Simpson discourse that is going to take place for the next month, this is the question. There’s basically zero precedent for someone with Simpson’s size and lack of game experience becoming a long term NFL starter. How confident are you Simpson can be 1of1?

Then there's QB. EVERY draft season QB gets overhyped. 4 out of the last 5 drafts, the UNDER total r1 QB's bet has hit despite having +odds in 3 out of those 4 drafts. Right now, DK thinks there is a 69% chance that TY Simpson, who is 34th on consensus boards, is picked in RD1

@StaleysPlace I doubt the Bears would invest another 2nd round pick in a swing tackle type. They signed Jones+Willis in free agency and still expect Trapillo back at some point. I do think adding interior offensive linemen in the draft is a good idea, but probably center in r3 is more likely

The Rams have tried to trade up in the draft each of the last two years for a playmaker. The best "playmaker" (although I hate that term) in this year's draft is Jeremiyah Love. I think taking a small flyer at 2800 that LA goes after Love is good value

@StevePalazzolo_ "Quarterbacks always get drafted earlier than you think"-not really! Quarterback's draft position to their consensus grade isnt drastically different then other positions and betting markets historically overrate how many QB's get picked in round 1

Wow-didnt see this coming! I'm curious what the numbers come out to given the variance Pete had last year but obviously fired up PCA is gonna be a Cub for the foreseeable future

This was the only hurdle left he had to clear. If he's a 4.3 corner, hes an easy top 10 player in this draft
