// LORE ECHO XLIV Each week we answer community lore questions, so that we can explore New Eden together! Who are some of the characters in New Eden? (pt.2) Tidal Jones is Overseer of the Prisma City Docklands and responsible for the shipping and distribution mechanisms of the Prisma region as a whole. He has a reputation for unwavering integrity and leadership that is respected by both allies and competitors. Physically imposing, albeit softly natured, he commands respect without the need for overt displays of force (with a trusty impact hammer always to hand, just in case). His role places him at the heart of Prisma City’s sphere of influence and he acts with a calm, yet stern demeanour which stands in stark contrast to the city's often chaotic environments filled with citizens, droids and drones of all kinds. Tidal has been a part of Prisma City's industrial backbone from a young age, his life story intertwined with the city's growth and struggles. His rise from an orphaned dock worker to Overseer speaks to his dedication and understanding of the system, while providing many deep-rooted connections that enable him to act with authority across a wide range of interest groups. He is trusted by both the KPCO authorities that control Prisma City, as well as the Council of Sentinels that oversee the region. This trust comes not just from his proven ability to conduct business effectively and lawfully... but also in knowing when (and how) to bend the rules. There are few individuals more respected in the region than Tidal Jones, which makes him an incredibly powerful ally to have on your side. Pray that you never have to face the hammer! Note: An avid lover of tea, including rare strands difficult to come by in New Eden, he believes the drink represents a deep philosophical approach to life centred upon longevity and tradition. Keep. Protect. Reimagine.

// LORE ECHO XLIII Each week we answer a different lore question to expand our knowledge of New Eden. Join us on this worldbuilding journey! Who are some of the characters in New Eden? (pt.1) Master of BOON Haven, Nova Caldera is deeply connected into the networks of Prisma City and has a reputation for being a reliable ally not to be messed with. Previously the bodyguard of Chef Esther at BOON Haven, presenting herself as a concierge at the street level restaurant, Nova is now in full control of one of New Eden's most respected Havens. Together with Chef Esther and a crew of Keepers from BOON Haven, she helped thwart the plot by a rogue AI that had overtaken Neon Corp. in an attempt to poison the city with tainted Aberrant meat. Her striking looks are punctuated by the cybernetic arm that she is not afraid to bring into action. Installed years previously following a traumatic attack by Aberrants that devastated her home village, it is a constant reminder of what she is fighting for. With strength beyond expectation and a sniper wit on top, Nova presents a bubbly exterior but is always ready to step into danger when the citizens of Prisma City need someone to stand in their corner. Keep. Protect. Reimagine.

ProductHunt measures hype. App stores measure downloads. Neither measures quality. We're building the layer that does.

// LORE ECHO XLII Each week we explore a different lore question to expand our knowledge of New Eden. Join us on this worldbuilding journey! How does the medical system operate in New Eden? It’s important to understand that the different regions of New Eden act autonomously. There is some overlap in access to resources, particularly Kai energy as it is refined and distributed from the Keep, but in terms of governance, ideology and infrastructure each region has its own identity. This is also the case for the medical systems around New Eden. By looking at each of the main cities and their surrounding areas, we can get a sense of how this autonomy plays out in regards to vital infrastructure such as healthcare. To begin, the Keep District is utopian in its supply of the best medical care to those who live and work within the district. Housing an industrial workforce, focused on the most vital task of ensuring the New Eden Safe Zone remains operating, residents in this area are well looked after. The best diagnostics, care and treatment is available free of charge to all those who have residence within the Keep District. Overseen by the AI systems that run the Keep itself, it is delivered efficiently and without delay… albeit with care that is faceless and pragmatic. Prisma City has a more privatised corporate structure, with large hospitals provided by KPCO for the majority of the population that are supplemented by dozens of smaller medclinics. These medclinics are (supposed to be) operated by licensed doctors who offer their services privately, setting their price according to the citizens that they want to provide healthcare for. If you have access to funds, you can get good healthcare in Prisma City. But if you don’t, you’re going to have to wait for the KPCO-operated waiting lists to open up to get your chance. Animus has open healthcare centred around service provided in regional temples and their surrounding complexes. Kai attunement is much more prevalent among the people of Animus, which extends into their medical system with a greater focus on magical healing and reliance on Kai-infused medicinal tinctures. Medical technology, including cybernetics, is available and used but tends to be seen as an option of last resort. If there’s a more holistic path forward through the use of Kai, then the people of Animus will take that option over others. The more remote region of Solis feels most similar to how the world operated pre-Flicker. There are doctors and medclinics, hospitals and treatment centres that specialise in different medical issues. The entire structure is run by local authorities through citizen contributions and privitisation only really occurs at the level of dispensing medicine, tinctures and more complex forms of cybernetics. A strong sense of faith is present and administered by the Holy Roller havens in the area, which acts as a support structure for the healthcare many seek out. Many citizens in the Solis region also travel to either Prisma City or Animus if they need more specialised care, depending on their own personal circumstances and preferences. If there’s one place you DON’T want to need medical care it’s Altona. As a town full of outlaws and misfits, Altona is a great place to hide from the authorities… but you pay for such anonymity and discretion with a lack of high-level services and security. You’re more likely to be thrown some sedatives to dull the pain than deal with the root cause; barter some resources for low level Kai healing; or find yourself confronted by a back-alley ‘surgeon’ with expertise in animal butchery, than you are a fully licensed medical professional. The people of Altona live fast and free, but the future is never guaranteed. Which is exactly how they want it to be. In the end, the access you have to medical care says a lot about who and where you are in New Eden. The gaps and differences between these systems can count for a lot in an emergency. Medicine is a defining feature of the different factions and how they take care of their own. As such, it is deeply rooted in how each region sees themselves trying to carve out a new existence in this fragile world. Keep. Protect. Reimagine. // LORE ECHO XLI Each week we explore new lore questions to deepen our understanding of New Eden and build this world together. What are the different Marks/Tattoos that Keepers wear? Symbolism is important in New Eden. With factional lines drawn in geography, ideology and conflict, the marks a Keeper wears say a lot about their allegiances. But not all marks are created equal. Some are more for fashion, others are a clear display of loyalty. Star Marks, for example, became a fashionable item in the 2060s and continue to be seen on the faces of Prisma City glitterati. Celebrities wear them proudly and those who wish to become famous display them aspirationally. Superstars in the making! In contrast, the Cross Marks of the Holy Rollers are a way for their neophytes to declare loyalty. They are symbolic of their devotion to the cause and deep-seated belief in the prophecies of a utopian future beyond the confines of New Eden. Tattoos come in even more forms, including those received after rites of passage. The native population of Lake Kairos are well-known for the specific tattoos that mark their kin and speak of a secret ideology unique to their own clans. The Kairosians go back many generations, even before the formation of the New Eden Safe Zone and the millions of refugees that arrived for its sanctuary. Other tattoos speak more to the depths of Kai attunement that Keepers explore. They mark the currents of energy on their own bodies in order to potentiate them… and those who achieve true alignment shine brightly in their flow. Keep. Protect. Reimagine. Thank you @EJays04 for the question, that takes us into every area of New Eden!

// Lore Echo XL Each week we explore lore questions raised by the community, so that we can detail every corner of New Eden together. Question: What is magic used for… and at what cost? A two-part question that helps us understand the centrality of magic within New Eden and the lengths that people go through to manipulate Kai energy. All magic comes from attunement to Kai energy, concentrated through parts of the colour/light spectrum in order to achieve different effects (both in the material realm and beyond). Distinct from the natural attunement of Keepers, some citizens have learned to work with trace amounts of Kai through years of dedicated practice. Low levels of Kai attunement has thus become increasingly common over the generations, so there are regular examples of citizens that learn how to manipulate the energy for various means. These mostly result in relatively minor effects such as healing, clairvoyance and the manifestation of basic material forms. These kind of abilities are regular enough to have become part of everyday life throughout the New Eden Safe Zone. Keepers born with natural attunement, and particularly those who train to deepen their understanding of Kai, can use magic for a much wider range of outcomes. This covers everything from destructive abilities to localised distortions of space and time, even the ability to enter into realms beyond the material. All of this channelled through the caster themselves, who can be acting with either honourable or sinister intent. Using magic requires both a great deal of concentration as well as opening the mind and body to the flows of Kai energy around us. This can be exhausting, particularly for those seeking to have a stronger impact, and so the cost of magic is mostly seen in terms of how much an individual can commit themselves to casting… This can extend even to the point of falling unconscious, or perhaps losing grip with reality for a period of time. In more extreme cases, wielding such energies can have dangerous and unpredictable effects when not properly controlled. In addition to deep concentration and the need for proper training, there are certain effects (particularly those which enter into the astral realms, or even beyond) which require spiritual objects of focus and/or offerings used in the process of casting a particular spell. These act as catalysts that can enhance the Kai attunement of an individual and help direct it towards specific goals. The most potent of these are known as Relics and Vessels, which are carefully protected by the Havens that act as custodians of such powerful items. Walking through the streets of Prisma City, Animus, or even in the less populated meadows outside Solis and the swamps surrounding Altona, one is likely to come across various magical abilities cast towards specific goals. These can often be seen as relatively mundane actions to assist with daily tasks, or glamours cast to impress and entertain. Although this might be the case and come with a sense of normality, there is always a deeper wonder when magic is invoked. People understand that something miraculous is occurring, even if it has been more than a century since these effects began to be seen more openly. In the end, the depths of concentration required, and the components that might be needed to attract a particular result, are really just the beginning of what magic really costs. The true cost of magic comes from how it changes us and redirects our collective efforts. How it opens us up to achieve things previously thought outside the reach of our physical being. Once opened, these channels require us to have the wisdom to use them in harmony with the world around us. We must remember our role and nurture the sanctuary provided to us. Otherwise, we will quickly learn of the tragedy that our own hubris brings when we forget. Keep. Protect. Reimagine. Thank you @cloudjonin1 once again as we round out a detailed series of questions on magic in New Eden! Original Art by @TakewakiStudio

@KPRVERSE is a project no one in Web3 should overlook. @notrealend and the team, including @FuturesightE, have been building it for more than 3 years. That level of commitment already says a lot in a space where many projects do not last a year. As a fellow worldbuilder, I know how complex and time consuming true worldbuilding is. Creating a believable universe, characters, lore, and systems takes an incredible amount of vision and patience. That is why I really admire what @KPRVERSE is doing. They did not just launch a project. They are building an entire world and pushing creative boundaries beyond what most people imagine in Web3. The introduction of NEW EDEN is another great step in expanding their universe and pushing their world even further. Projects like this truly deserve more attention in this space.
