My daughter made the finals of her soccer tourny this weekend. Ended a 1-1 draw and went to penalty kicks. She slotted hers home and they were up 3-2 with 2 left to kick on each team. Her next 2 teammates blew both of theirs wide and they lost 4-3 on penalties. Shes the starting CB and through 4 games there were 0 goals scored on them when she was on the field. The lone goal in the title game came when she was out for a break. I told her how proud of her I was for locking the back line down all weekend and making her penalty kick. Then I told her to talk to the 2 girls who missed after she made hers to give them a 1 goal lead in the shoot out. I told her to make sure they knew it was their fault they finished 2nd instead of winning the championship. I told her it’s ok if they cry when she tells them they cost her team the title. They are only 11 yr olds after all. But zoomers have an accountability issue. “It’s never my fault. It’s the boomers blah blah blah”. I’m teaching my kids accountability. And I want them to teach their peers accountability. And sometimes that makes your teammates cry. And that’s just part of life.
