The Kitten Shower is finally here! 💕 🐈️ Each year, hundreds of kittens swarm our shelter and foster homes, and they often need a lot of care before they're ready for adoption. The Kitten Shower is our way of asking for support by sharing a list of our most-needed supplies.

The Nebraska Humane Society honors the life and legacy of Judy Varner, former President and CEO of NHS, whose leadership, vision, and determination helped shape the organization into the respected animal‑welfare leader it is today. Judy passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026.

Dispatch gets a phone call, an ACO brings an animal to the shelter...then what? That's where Assessment comes in! This team sees literally every single animal that comes to NHS in order to determine the best path for them.

This collaboration stands as a testament to effective teamwork and professionalism in the face of challenging circumstances. The operation ensured the safety and care of 51 animals, with ongoing support. We are grateful for the expertise and dedication of all involved.
