@PublicHealthW hi - is it just the phone number 9-5 for tell on you about notifiable diseases or can I use the AWARE email address. Or E advice and guidance. I keep missing you and I’m tired. I need asynchronous communication.

@DrLindaDykes Mr NHS GP declare that isn’t marine ply. It is for interior use only. Marine ply has waterproof glue.

Why is it patients are *allowed* to take a photo of an ECG for example, but not a physical copy of the ECG itself? Isn’t it their information and their result…

Dr Linda Dykes has moved to Bluesky
Tweeting for a friend elsewhere in country to preserve anonymity. Doctors’ handwriting has been a cause of ridicule for decades, but is this really acceptable in a safety-critical industry? Context is a ReSPECT form. Nobody caring for patient currently has a clue what it says.

@sh_abbers It’s an increasingly common diagnosis. I’ve never diagnosed it but referred with it in mind plenty. A few ppl think they have it but don’t meet criteria though.

@DGlaucomflecken GP in UK (equivalent I think of family medicine in US). It’s funny, accurate and not harmful.

If this character is harmful, I am happy to adjust my content. Here’s a poll. I’d prefer if only primary care doctors voted for the first 2 options. Just want to get a sense for how many people feel this way. Thanks.

This is an email I received today. I take my content and platform very seriously and take great care to satirize and gently rib all areas of medicine without being demeaning to anybody

@clara_neuro @AlexNevard The thing is though primary care are the gate keepers. They can manage a lot of chronic conditions. If we refer everything to specialties we clog up clinics further. Which I think is one of the points Alex was making.

Hello, thankyou for attending the ED with your emergency, I've treated you and now your safe to go home! To discuss its long term management you need to see a specialist. No of course I can't arrange it! See your GP, try and describe what I've said and they'll refer you. Bye

@Andywebster @clara_neuro @AlexNevard I mean this kindly. Either we are the gatekeepers - redirect to us and don’t mention referral for us to manage and decide, or we’re not - best pathway for ED to ref. Because if shiny building doc says ref patients want and we are hamstrung as gatekeepers.

Did a sick note today for a patient who otherwise would have gone back to their GP. As I sat thinking of the GP whose life I just changed forever, I feel this warm glow envelope me. I realise I’ve single handedly saved primary care from certain ruin. Am I a hero? No. Just a man.

👇 LGBTQ+ people should be free to go about their lives without fear or restriction, Dr Jenkins' tragic death is a reminder of the hate our communities face for simply existing.

@itssamanthaaaa_ Actually they do! Plastic surgeons write to any patient’s GP before procedure in UK, most won’t operate without it.

Why do I need to get a letter of approval from the GIC to get a breast augmentation if I’m going private ?, do cis women need to get a letter from their GP to make sure they’re mentally sound beforehand? Seems unfair. Contacting the GIC is near impossible right now to so 🤷‍♀️
