Congrats to my Ipswich Town historian friend Richard Wiseman @archiveanorak for exposing lazy journalism by the media who pretend that football started when the premier league began. Max Dowman is not the youngest ever goalscorer in English football’s top flight. That record is still held by Jason Dozzell who was just 16 years and 57 days old when he scored for Ipswich Town against Coventry back in 1984. Dozzell scored Town’s third in a 3-1 win after coming on for his debut as a substitute. As reported by Bob Wilson in a clip I’ve just been watching in the BBC archives. - @JohnGubba
