A new month means a new mini-exhibit in our Manuscript Reading Room! This month’s exhibit features Isaac Ogden, a loyalist from Newark. He was indicted for seditious words and fled to New York during the Revolutionary War. His property was seized and Ogden never returned to NJ.

Today is jazz singer Sarah “Sassy” Vaughan’s 101st birthday! She was nominated for nine total Grammys, winning the Lifetime Achievement Award and one other.

The State Archives maintains a list of missing and alienated records that belong at the Archives but have been lost or stolen over the years. We were recently able to track down one such enrolled law from the Royal Colony of New Jersey, dated December 6, 1769.

Today would be Grover Cleveland’s 188th birthday! After his retirement in 1897, he moved to Westland Mansion in Princeton, where he lived until his death in 1908. [SNJSA030]
