Did you know? The Principles for the Protection and Promotion of the Institution of the Ombudsman, were created in 2019 by the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe. Among those consulted by the Commission was the IOI, in which we hold membership. venice.coe.int/webforms/docum…

On this Indigenous Veterans Day, remember LCpl John Shiwak; known as the "Sniper of Rigolet", he fought with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment during WW1. Killed in action during the Battle of Cambrai 21 Nov 2017, his final resting place is unknown. Lest We Forget.

Our office is closed today to observe the second national day of truth and reconciliation. We do so with respect for indigenous peoples across our nation who, through no fault of their own, were heinously treated by settler populations.
