Our hearts go out to Shawn Peddle’s family, friends and colleagues. Last year we called on the provincial government to launch an independent public inquiry to investigate for systemic failure. We are renewing that call to the new government.

. @JimDinn They and their families are placed under extreme stress trying to find a placement. This person was so greatly impacted being left in a small room for those days they lost the ability to walk. 2/3 #nlpoli

. @JimDinn Speaker, we don’t know if some of those people needed to be at emergency or not. We know one 84 year old who was left at the Health Sciences Centre emergency for 20 days with no plan. 1/3 #nlpoli

. @JimDinn What a disrespectful way to treat a senior especially with our emergency rooms notoriously full creating a domino effect in the health care system. Why was this inhuman practice not addressed by the Department of Health? 3/3

. @JimDinn At least 91 residents were those who had to go to emergency and then weren't accepted back by their personal care home. 2/3 #nlpoli

. @JimDinn Speaker, the Auditor General reported that there were 254 evictions between 2022 and 2024 in personal care homes. Perhaps more, we don’t know due to the lack of record keeping. 1/3 #nlpoli

. @JimDinn Will the Minister commit that he will not sell the property to a private developer like he did with 106-108 Livingstone Street and instead rebuild NLHC homes on the site or turn it over to not-for-profits like the Cooperative Housing Association? 3/3 #nlpoli

. @JimDinn Since the Minister lacks the political backbone to implement rent and vacancy controls on large financialize landlords, will he demand increases to the CHB and increase provincial supports to offset the high rents people are experiencing? 2/2 #nlpoli
