@CoachCHarvey I agree that on the macro level public schools need to be fixed. However, in Sarasota County we have great public schools. The kids leaving for private schools are doing so for reasons other than education.

Here’s a take that I’m sure will draw some attention. School choice was meant to give every kid access to quality academics. If we’re upset about “transfers” hurting athletics, maybe we should start by fixing the academic environments these kids are trying to escape.

WOW! That is appalling to say the least! These coaches put in WAAAYYY MORE than 250 hours per year! More like THOUSANDS OF hours are invested by coaches in a variety of sports!
This kind of quote from an union rep just shows how out of touch the teachers unions are when it comes to coaches (WHO BY THE WAY ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO TEACH 5 TO 6 CLASSES A DAY). 🤦🏻♂️

This is the reality for multiple coaches in almost every program in the state. In the summer Florida heat, multiple hours a day... working for free, while having to pay for childcare.
Summer conditioning isn't optional, it's required.
