We had the pleasure of welcoming the NL delegation to the 152nd IPU Assembly, at our CG in Istanbul. Our parliamentarians exchanged views with TR think tank members on today’s regional and global challenges and the importance of Turkish-EU relations.

Today in Middelburg it was my privilege to join Elizabeth Roosevelt Johnston (the great-granddaughter of President Franklin D. Roosevelt) in presenting the International Four Freedoms Award to President @ZelenskyyUa of Ukraine. He accepted the award on behalf of the Ukrainian people as a ‘recognition of the courageous fight for our freedom and democracy under exceptionally difficult circumstances’.

In Ankara, Niels Veenis, Head of Economic Affairs, met Memduh Aslan Akçay, General Manager of ASKİ. They discussed water efficiency, sustainable water management, and potential 🇳🇱🤝🇹🇷 cooperation. International knowledge exchange and collaboration remain key. 💧🌍

Türkiye & NL have strong ties. A key part of this is our economic relationship, with more than 3,000 Dutch companies operating in Türkiye and 1,500 Turkish companies in NL. In my meeting with @omerbolatTR we committed to high-level economic and trade consultations before summer.

NL Ambassador & CG met new @TUSIAD President Ozan Diren. Key topics: 1️⃣ Trade & investment with EU/NL 2️⃣ EU-TR Customs Union and Industrial Accelerator Act 3️⃣ Opportunities in renewable energy, ports, biotech, agriculture, defense. Looking forward to future cooperation!

The annual ceremony at Ferikoy Protestant Cemetery marked the end of our stewardship of this unique piece of shared history that connects countries and cultures. As we hand over to our Swedish colleagues, we wish them all the best and to everyone, we wish you a peaceful New Year.

We paid a courtesy visit to His Eminence Archbishop Mor Philoxenus Yusuf Çetin, Patriarchal Vicar of the Syriac Orthodox Church. In a lively meeting various matters related to the Syriac community in TR&EU were discussed. The visit concluded with a tour of the Virgin Mary Church.
