On 17 July, our thoughts are with the 298 victims of the downing of flight #MH17, including 196 🇳🇱 nationals, and their loved ones. The recent @ECHR_CEDH judgment and @icao decision confirm Russia’s responsibility. We remain committed to achieving truth, justice & accountability.

In 2020 the Netherlands submitted an inter-State application to the @ECHR_CEDH regarding Russia’s responsibility for the downing of flight MH17 and the deaths of everyone on board, including 196 Dutch nationals. The Court ruled in the Netherlands’ favour: government.nl/latest/news/20…

📣 Very fruiful meeting on operational & consular affairs with participants from various Embassies in 🇱🇺! After exchanging experiences on the consular & operational realm there was time for networking at the christmassy 🇳🇱 Residence.🎄

OTDH the Battle of the Bulge began. At Schumannseck in Northern 🇱🇺, where the war raged for weeks in the cold winter of 1944-1945 and where so many were killed, we remembered the fallen in the presence of HRH Prince Guillaume and a 101 year old 🇺🇸veteran. Very Moving.🕊️

Honoured to represent 🇳🇱 at the 80th Commemoration of the Battle of the Bulge at the American War Cemetery in 🇱🇺. In a moving & emotional speech WWII veteran John Foy spoke about his comrades who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. A message still relevant today.🕊️

Thanks @carinatwork for Screening Human Rights movie "Nice Ladies" and participating on our regular Human Rights Breakfast together with @ZharovNicolas @CordulaSchnuer @GeoffWThompson, remembering the Havel - Mitterrand encounter in 1988 and talking about the hope. 🇨🇿 🇳🇱 🇱🇺🇺🇦🇩🇪🇮🇪
