Trans allyship: a thread. I've been asked to speak on panels about trans activism a lot the last few years, esp through pride month. One question I *always* get asked is: what can people do to be in solidarity/allyship. I've been asked it year on year on year:

But let’s also be clear: you cannot legislate trans people out of public life. You can make our lives harder, but we have each other - we always have. We will continue to fight for each other, and protect & celebrate each other.

Solidarity with all the trans women whose lives, in particular, are about to get harder in accessing essential services for healthcare, housing, domestic and sexual violence. Shame on those so hardened in their souls that they want to make material conditions worse for women.

I grew up in the feminist tradition that my biology doesn’t, & shouldn’t be weaponised to, define me or my access to public & private life. Sadly, some feminists align themselves with conservative far right values & it’s a powerful alliance. A sad day for feminist movements in UK

So the police are institutionally racist, sexist and homophobic. Lots of people call for reform, but it won’t work. Read this to understand why: Over-policed and Under-protected: why does nothing change? irr.org.uk/article/over-p…

I really hope we are able to build stronger movements of solidarity and don’t internalise the narrative that this is about some of us and not all of us, while focussing our support, protection and resources on those most under attack in this moment /8

I’m the UK if they’re able to advance the legal definition of sex play, it not only renders the Gender Recognition Act impracticable, it also creates an opportunity to blow the entire Equality Act open - attacking protections for all covered in it now. /7

While the government and EHRC have taken the next step in removing human rights of trans people it’s hard but important to remember the end goal is reversal of the Equality Act and human rights protections in totality /1
