Process was fairly straight forwards with this, as I had been wanting to do an piece like this for a while and had a clear mental image. Still, as I wanted the different materials to stand out and have a clear depth separation, even in B&W, I blocked it all out unlit. Enjoy!

@TophatGeo With this flow, when I get to the pen, everything is pretty much in place. So there isn't that much choice to regret. Furthermore its a fairly stiff "brush" pen / sign pen, so it's not as unruly as some.

Had fun briefly representing the Ninjago design team at an AFOL event.

What the awesome Xiaodong does for Monkey Kid, at the same as I do our visual for Ninjago.

@AverageRaineFan It's a merge tornado as they were called at the time. However it is also a graphical element to seperate this from it's sister visual, showing the previous setting featuring the Greenbone Warriors. I should get the posted sometime as well.

@NMSeverin I'm very curious about that tornado on the Ninja's side, is that some insane Spinjitzu or an effect of the Mergequakes?

Time to go back to the dawn of #NinjagoDragonsRising season 1! This #conceptart was our internal key visual to kick off production of the new #ninjago season. The coming weeks, I'll share how we got to this. (Yes, at a point in time, The Imperium was a hexagonal, vertical city!)
