About six months ago, I had a long conversation with ChatGPT on the question whether it wouldn't be rational and just for countries to make a prudent policy, in their national interests, to exclude - from recruitment to their militaries - people of one religion who are found, on empirical observation, recorded facts, and statistical figures, to have committed terrorist and treasonous crimes motivated by their belief that loyalty to their religion prevails over loyalty to the countries of their domicile. I argued for the dumping of suicidal political correctness, and for the adoption of a common-sense approach in sensitive matters like selection of personnel for the military, the police, and other crucial public services, which would demand exclusion of elements who, on rational assessment, are perceived as serious risks in such sensitive services. In its response, ChatGPT, expectedly toeing the politically correct and theoretically uncomplicated line, expressed views against wholesale attribution of traits, found in some members of a religious group, to the entire religious community. It insisted on individualised, intelligence-driven safeguards rather than collective exclusion. It seems that for ChatGPT, as it is for all "liberals", it is unacceptable, if not impossible, to attribute any specific characteristic to a group in its entirety; every individual of the group must be judged as a separate entity, and any characteristic found in him/her must be deemed to be unique to that individual, no matter if his/her characteristics and actions are clearly found to be influenced by what is common to the whole group. I ended the conversation with ChatGPT once I realised that it is inextricably entangled in theoretical dogmas. I got ChatGPT to make a short summary of certain relevant portions of the lengthy discussion I had with it. I am attaching a screenshot of the summary.
