Happy birthday to former Norman North, Iowa State and current Baltimore Ravens tight end Charlie Kolar, born on this day in 1999 in Norman. At Norman North, Kolar played both football and basketball. He earned First-Team All-State accolades as a senior after catching 66 passes for 1,240 yards and 12 touchdowns, helping the Timberwolves go 12-1 and advance to the 6A-I state championship game. In the title game, won by Union 57-43, Kolar had six catches for 121 yards and a touchdown. Kolar signed with Iowa State and after a redshirt season, went on to catch 168 passes for 2,181 yards and 23 touchdowns over four years, earning a second-team All-Big 12 honor in 2018 and three-time first-team All-Big 12 from 2019 to 2021. He was also the recipient of the William V. Campbell Trophy as a senior. Often known as the "Academic Heisman", the honor is given to the top college football player with the best combination of academics, leadership and on-field performance. Kolar was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft and has appeared in 47 games, including 13 starts, making 30 catches for 409 yards and four touchdowns. Happy birthday to former Norman North, OU and pro football linebacker Jordan Evans, born on this day in 1995. Evans helped Norman North reach the state championship game as a senior in 2012, recording 100 tackles, nine sacks, 12 quarterback hurries and three fumble recoveries. He also impacted offense and special teams, rushing for 334 yards and five touchdowns and returning five kicks for touchdowns. Evans was a first-team All-State selection by The Oklahoman as a senior and chose the University of Oklahoma to continue his career. With the Sooners, he was a second-team All-Big 12 pick in 2015 and first-team in 2016. In his OU career, he made 260 tackles, 21.5 for losses, 3.5 sacks forced three fumbles, recovered two -- one for a touchdown -- and intercepted five passes, two which he returned for scores as a senior. In the 2017 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals chose Evans in the sixth round. He moved into the starting lineup in his second season and he played five seasons for the Bengals, making 127 tackles, 3.5 sacks, recovering a fumble and intercepting two passes. Evans is the son of former Sooner Scott Evans, who was a three-time all-conference selection at defensive tackle from 1988-1990. Happy birthday Jordan! #tdfn #okpreps @NNFootball
