@eXoofed @flower_spqr Esports exists cause it’s fucking cool, it exists cause guys like @Fodakahn think that shit is fucking sick to watch and he’s just right. It’s love of the game and community in its entirety, it’s passion to watch the best go at it. We get so much invested for literally passion

@eXoofed @flower_spqr Paying more artists more advertising or more devs to improve the product and its availability would 100% net you more money but that’s not the point man it’s never ever been the point that’s not why esports exists.

As someone whos been behind the scenes as well as pay any attention to other esports you realize that theres no point in doing this. Esports is a passion project and the fact that it exists at all is by the mercy of whatever game or community you’re in lol there’s no “no brainer”

@flower_spqr It probably matters very little, esports has its own health completely and it’s not one to one with the games, you can see this literally in the fact that we aren’t actually dropping player count on platforms but viewership, tournaments, and community is down.

@NNRemmy i don’t agree with the notion that esports doesn’t matter for a games health at all. while you are right as in there isn’t a trackable return, the whole point is that it nurtures and strengthens the fanbase.

@STTP_WILSON I think esports can be a tool that retains players by giving them a higher goal to strive for but that’s a small percent past the ppl who do the same thing with a higher rank. You can cultivate momentum without esports regardless just by creating a product worth it + luck.

@NNRemmy Yeah, well longevity doesn’t come from mercy, it comes from momentum. So either help build it, or enjoy 2 players playing your game, like back when me and you were champs.
