[IN CONVERSATION] South Africa could unlock R5-trillion in long-term investments if structural reforms to the country’s financial system are implemented, according to a new report by the National Planning Commission (@NPC_RSA). Prof. Mark Swilling, Professor and Co-Director at the University of Stellenbosch and NPC Commissioner, highlighted that current policies disproportionately benefit a small segment of the population, limiting investment in infrastructure and productive assets, and called for an integrated macrofinancial framework with development finance institutions under the prudential authority of the South African Reserve Bank.  The NPC’s recommendations aim to drive sustainable growth, reduce inequality, and support a more equitable distribution of resources.  CNBC Africa's @Retha_Jae reports. #SouthAfricaEconomy #InvestmentGrowth #FinancialReform
