The Salmon River Ranger District successfully burned about 3500 acres of a priority landscape prescribed fire project yesterday. Smoke from this burn has settled into the immediate area this morning, but is expected to clear out with incoming weather over the next 24-48 hours.

🌤Conditions on Friday were sunny with some clouds, snow was soft and dry making it another great weekend to be out on the hill. ☃️There was 5 inches of new snow reported for a total of 38 inches at the trailhead. 🙋‍♂️Enjoy!

❄️Fish Creek Winter Rec Area Update❄️ 🌲As of Friday March 3rd, Forest Service personnel had packed, groomed, and set a track on all Nordic loops. The Snowshoe loop was also groomed, and the Boundary cutoff loop was packed as well.

Any motorists traveling these roads may encounter some short delays for truck traffic, possible logging equipment on the road, and roadside felling operations as well. Warning signs to alert motorists of potential impacts from logging operations are in place.

Center Johnson and Crooked Christie Timber Sale update: Tree felling and Log hauling on the Deer Creek Road (FSR #493) and Crooked Road (FSR #672) has started and will continue until approximately March 31st while conditions allow.

The purpose of this Order is to minimize threats to the health and safety of the public and emergency responders, and to protect natural resources from damage by restricting use on access trails and areas surrounding two natural hot springs on the Lochsa-Powell District.
