This analysis is a counterpoint to some early impressions:
Iran has done damage but not that much.
Its attacks are decreasing, implying the U.S. and Israel may have hit some of its drone and missile capacity. The wild card is the Strait which ships may not risk for some time.

NEW | Special Report: The war in Iran is currently in a phase in which the military trajectory is relatively positive: the United States is steadily destroying Iran’s ability to use its most essential tool in the war — drone and missile attacks — which in turn underpin the entire Iranian strategy. Iran has still done some damage to US forces, and it is still firing drones and missiles, though the overall attack rate is slowly decreasing. These attacks still pale in comparison to the major attacks Iran sought to conduct in an existential war and have caused neither operationally significant damage nor widespread casualties. The US-Israeli combined force will need time to achieve its military objectives and prevent Iran from inflicting further political and economic pain upon the United States and its allies in the region, but the campaign remains incomplete, and it is too soon to forecast its outcome. Declaring it an operational failure is unquestionably premature.

The @WSJ reports that Iran has actually managed to increase its oil shipments through the Straits of Hormuz, even as Saudi shipments are halted. Basically, Iran has managed to sanction other countries and benefit from higher oil prices -- precisely the opposite of Trump's plan.

Was talking with someone today who made a point of saying they try not to follow the news.
But they follow gas prices. They knew to the penny how much they just paid and how much more it is. “I don’t want to be political, but…..” And trailed off.
That breaks through.

This by the NYT coincides with an omission.
Trump lacks support and did not ask for it.
Past presidents asked Congress for support: a declaration of war or some other vote.
Others asked the people for support through an address to the nation.
Trump did a social media post.
