I’m 27 and work offshore in the North Sea. Over the past few years I’ve been quietly building: • £115k ISA • £120k pension With the goal of reaching financial independence before 50. Sharing the real numbers as I go.

I drill for oil and gas, and I’ve just bought an electric car 🚗 Seems counterintuitive, but through salary sacrifice I’ve reduced my tax and got a brand new car. You’ve got to make the most of any incentives you’re offered!

@DividendDrip I think some of the gains of last week will be wiped out, however, I don’t think it’s going to be as severe as it has been recently

As markets are nearing open, what’s your thoughts on how they will react with the weekend news?

One thing I’m planning this tax year is moving my ISA from HL to another provider, likely Trading 212. Fees feel too high now I’m mainly buying ETFs. Anyone else made the switch?

@2147mill Again, I agree in principle, but I don’t think there is a logical way to differentiate between people in practice. I don’t think situations will be that clear cut in reality.

@NSInvestor If one GENUINELY needs health care then of course I want them to have it. But not Dave who has necked 13 pints, vapes and eats doughnuts. He doesn’t need to be there.

Controversial opinion: The UK should have no NHS. We should take responsibly for our own health, our own emergency savings and not be so reliant on the state.

@2147mill I get your point, but even the healthiest people can get sick. You’re always going to have people in lower paid jobs who are not as well off as others. Would it be fair that they wouldn’t get healthcare if they couldn’t afford it?

GM ☕️ Not a lot of new info from Trump’s conference last night, other than things aren’t over yet. Expect to see the markets slide this morning. Hopefully it stays in the red until the ISA allowance resets!

@DividendDrip Hard to argue with that. I’m similar, keeping the majority in VWRP and just staying consistent with it. There’s no need to “overthink” it.

IM GOING ALL IN ON VWRP. Accumulating, DCA, buying daily. Always keeping cash aside for dips, aim to do swing plays to take advantage, to reinvest into VWRP ETF. Retire in 30 years.

Around 80% of my portfolio is in VWRP. The other 20% is in more speculative plays. Simple core, small risk on the side. I’m young so happy to take a bit more risk with that portion. How is everyone else splitting their portfolio?

Even if it’s a small amount each month into an ETF through a Stocks & Shares ISA, over time compounding does the heavy lifting.

Easy to forget, but the ISA allowance resets in a few days. If you don’t use it, you can’t carry it forward. One of the best (and only 😂) tools the government gives us.

@2147mill Depends how much you have left on your mortgage 😂 If they’re like for like, I’d probably take the ISA. Having that money in a tax free envelope outweighs having the mortgage paid off personally.

@ukgrind It has its pros and cons. Being away from family and friends is tough, but the time off is great and the pay helps a lot. Trying to save as much as possible now so I do not have to do it forever!

@DividendDrip Yeah I think DCA helps with my sanity as well, nothing worse than putting it all in and seeing it drop further the next day 😂

@NSInvestor Personally, I’d DCA over the next few days until the end of the tax year. Yiu do what cash set aside however for further buying opportunities

Markets have been brutal lately. I’ve been DCA each week and still have £3,000 ready to invest. Do I: A) Deploy it now B) Keep DCA’ing over the next few weeks Leaning towards B… I’m not convinced we have reached the bottom yet!

@2147mill What’s your plan for April 6th? Got 20k sitting waiting to go? I’m thinking of DCA across the month (although I’m scared I will be bored for the remaining 11 months of the year 😂)
