Starting corn harvest today, hoping the corn handled the drought a little better than the soybeans this year.

Last passes on 2025 soybean harvest. The only good thing about being in a drought never missed a day combining.

1st 2 cobs on left out off of strip till field that had 9 way cover crop planted after wheat last Aug on medium soil type. Cob on right planted in conventional tilled lighter soils. Cover crops and strip till should pay returns with only 2 “ of rain this summer

@farmerschneck Oats, Barley, Sunflowers, Safflowers, Flax, Radish, Turnips will all winter kill, but until then, they’ll help feed the soil’s diverse biological ecosystem the diverse Carbon molecules needed to keep the life within the soils robust.

@oatsgrower Yes at 6” depth and no you shouldn’t have to add any P but some people still do?

@NSnotiller What depth of soil is the 1700 lb/ac level? At 6” that would equate to 850 ppm I believe which is insanely high is it not? You should never need to add any phos for your career.

How dry is it? Never been able to stick a measuring tape 3 feet into the ground in a crack 1.5” wide before! Only received 2” rain since June15th and 1/2” since Aug 1st.

@burnhamfarms The planter plots were 7.5” so took 2 passes with the planter so I was comparing the same spacing. Surprisingly my other drill vs Planter plots the 7.5” drilled plots have out yielded most of the 7.5” planter plots.

@NSnotiller Huh. But 15in could eliminate drill equipment costs, but planter also higher $/ac.

More 2025 W.Wheat trials results. Planter 1.5 Mil seed/ ac 104.2 Bu vs Planter 1,5 Mil seed/ac with 7 gal Compost extract in seed trench 103.8 bu so extract made no difference vs drill 1.5 mil/ ac with 50 lb/ac DAP 107.4 bu higher yield but subtract cost of DAP all 3 same net/ac
