Minister Of Labour Allays Fear Over New Industrial Relations Policy The Federal Government has assured organised labour that the newly approved National Industrial Relations Policy (NIRP) 2025 will promote industrial harmony, protect workers’ rights, and boost productivity. A statement by the head of press and public relations ministry of Labour and Employment Patience Onuobia Says the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, dismissed claims that the policy is aimed at criminalising strikes or silencing unions, explaining that it was developed over seven years through consultations with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA). He noted that the National Industrial Relations Policy aligns with International Labour Organization (ILO) standards, strengthens investor confidence, and promotes stable labour relations nationwide. Dingyadi said the policy fosters social dialogue, regular consultations, and negotiations among stakeholders while safeguarding rights to fair wages, safe working conditions, and collective bargaining.
