💔🔥Wildfires: 'Devastation. This isn't going to come back. The damaged landscape is GONE.' ⛰️🚘Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 has spent the day in the Mourne Mountains with the @NationalTrustNI in an off-road vehicle as fire crews continue operations. 🎥🎤On the mountain we speak to Lead Ranger James Fisher who details the scale of the damage. ❗️Fire crews have been working in extremely tough conditions over the last number of days. ⚠️It's understood the operation is scaling back but a warning for wildfires remains in place until the end of the week and more dry weather expected. 🙌First Minister @moneillsf and deputy First Minister @little_pengelly thanked those who are working to stop the fires.

As #Spring approaches our friends at Mourne Nature Watch on Facebook recently photographed the Ravens in Thomas' Quarry. The Ravens have a long established nest site here but haven't nested in the quarry for a number of years. 🐦‍⬛🪺 #BirdsOfX #BirdsOfTwitter #Mournes

As the growing season starts we're transplanting small samples of healthy heath into bare soil, coir netting protects the thin soils before a pioneer seed mix is sown helping build soil conditions to allow for the long term regeneration of native heathland. 💪🌱⛰️ #RangerLife

Our brilliant Mountain Rangers have been working on the popular Granite Trail, the path was becoming badly eroded following recent heavy rain, a substantial cross drain was built to channel water away from the path line.⛰️⚒️ #Mournes

🎥 Restoring the Mournes, One Step at a Time 🌱 Take a look at this behind-the-scenes footage of our ranger Jesse moving peat from an eroded hag to areas of heavy path erosion. This work is part of our coco-coir netting and landscaping project at the Saddle. #MourneMountains

🌱Showcasing #WorldSoilDay today🌱 Long term solutions to heath restoration. We're working to prevent erosion of the fragile #peat soils on #SlieveDonard by re-profiling exposed peat haggs, planting heather plugs and stabilising the soil with geo-textiles.
