Scotland’s Marine P̵r̵o̵t̵e̵c̵t̵e̵d̵ Areas 60% of Marine Protected Areas (19 of 32) designated in 2014 still have no protections from scallop dredging and bottom-trawling, fishing methods that scrape the seabed. We want to protect our seabeds to create sustainable futures for all, including those who rely on healthy fish populations. Sandeels are a vital source of food for many seabirds, including puffins and kittiwakes so we are thrilled @scotgov has announced they will stop industrial sandeel fishing in Scottish waters. This is a huge win for Scotland’s seabirds🙌🌊
