Join Southwell Town Council and and The Workhouse on a seasonal guided lantern walk in the grounds of the Workhouse and Infirmary on Saturday 9 December (4.30pm - 6pm)! Bring your own lantern, bells and whistles, and join us for a guided walk around the grounds including carols.

Workhouse story discovered with @findmypast thanks to the #1921Census... Herbert Keeble was born in Suffolk. He served in WWI until demobilisation in 1919, and got pneumonia. The 1921 Census lists Herbert as an inmate at Southwell Workhouse, prior to his death. #NationalTrust

This week’s heavy rainfall flooded our visitor reception building. Luckily, these handling collection items were being displayed just out of reach of the water. It would have damaged them. #nationaltrust #ntmidlands

Take a trip through #1921Census discoveries with the new ‘[Re]Counted’ exhibition in the Infirmary this October Half Term. We have collaborated with @findmypast to pluck fascinating threads from the 1921 census and weave together over 40 Workhouse stories. #NationalTrust

The workhouse will be closed tomorrow (22 Oct) as we continue to assess the impact of the recent weather and clean up. We've seen an unprecedented amount of rainwater. Much of our visitor reception and car park has been flooded. We will keep everyone updated.

The true story of the inmate who helped run a workhouse 😮 William Frisby might have seemed like a normal inmate of Southwell Workhouse in the 1921 Census, but there is much more to his story than first meets the eye…

Step back in time at The Workhouse - find and help the inmates doing their daily jobs on Thurs 26 and Sat 28 October (10.30am - 3.30pm). Meet our #costumed characters and come and find out what life was like. Normal admission charges apply. Last entry one hour before closing.

A group from @reach_ld came to The Workhouse to help them learn more about its history. The visit inspired them to create lots of different pictures and words to give an idea of the impact their visit had on them. Their work is on display in the reflection room. #ntmidlands
