My visceral gut reaction to four wide "racing" shouldn't be frustration or, worse, boredom
NASCAR@NASCAR
Screw it, two minutes of four-wide racing.

Life update: Friday was my last show on @KSLSports “JJ & Alex” as I have accepted a new gig at KSL. Working daily with @JeremiahJensen and @NapolesAlex has been awesome. Not going far… new “project” in the works. More soon.

@PPistone @DanielKriete4 some people wanna see race cars go in circles to hype up the biggest race of the year. not just get hyped up by seeing “glamour” shots of them sitting on jackstands in north carolina.

Preseason Thunder is returning next year, super happy that NASCAR is bringing it back #NASCAR

@AlextheAdm1ral 😂 Reminds me of watching DirecTV SD-only channels on a 16:9 display. The default settings resulted in the 4:3 feed with a letter-boxed 16:9 image being pillar-boxed back to 16:9. Horrendous.

@pubity Ah, so she joined right at the peak of excellence. Interesting.

@ChrisGloninger Plenty of vehicles still use the accessory drive for climate control, so not zero. Also, while the engine may restart in 400ms, it may take 2-3 seconds to be able to move. And for what? To save the 1 cc of fuel it takes for me to do a stop and go at an empty intersection?
English

Lee, you hack, start/stop systems were invented by Toyota in 1974 and adopted by European automakers in the 2000s. They reduce fuel consumption by 5-8% and cut idle emissions by 100%. They restart in under 400 milliseconds… faster than your foot moves from brake to gas. Your car doesn't 'die.' The engine decouples from the drivetrain via a reinforced starter motor rated for 500,000+ cycles. This isn't Obama. It's thermodynamics. An engine burning fuel at zero mph does zero useful work. That's not politics. That's the first law. You're the EPA administrator and you don't understand combustion efficiency. Terrifying.

There will be no more climate participation trophies awarded to manufacturers who make Americans’ vehicles die at every red light and stop sign. It’s over. The Start/Stop Obama Switch is FINISHED! Under President Trump’s leadership, manufacturers can build the vehicles Americans actually want, instead of the vehicles that politicians and bureaucrats in Washington demand.

@JohnNewby_ @bobpockrass Strange thing to say. Granted there are sections that are total snoozefests about procedural junk, but…most of it was important race car stuff, albeit probably more exciting to an outsider like myself than someone actually working in the sport. W for Bob at least.
English

One funny note from the early session. Jeffrey Kessler said that he doesn’t believe anyone has read the entire NASCAR Rule Book. Many people in the courtroom then turned and looked at @bobpockrass

@MonsieurBobo @Acyn Hence, “I’m actually going to deep-fry a turkey tomorrow…”

@Acyn I thought these guys were all about holding onto our traditions even when they suck

The red-light cameras at 88th & Washington are installed and ready to go! Starting this week, these cameras will begin capturing violations for warning notices. Our two mobile speed vehicles will be out across the city doing the same.
The warning period gives drivers time to adjust before full enforcement begins. This program is being launched to help reduce crashes and slow down dangerous speeding in high-risk areas.

@NASCARonReddit Had come, past tense? This one.
Jimmie Johnson’s Pocono wreck and Austin Dillon’s and Ryan Newman’s Daytona wreck are the ones that stick out to me for real though.

What Nascar wreck really made you have a think on how far safety had come? (via u/youraverageperson0) reddit.com/comments/1p21e… #NASCAR

@GGGoathalter @2025CocaCola600 That’s a good argument against playoffs though! It would be cool to see a full NFL postseason championship. I suspect the outcome would be largely the same as the playoffs, but it would be more football!
English

@GGGoathalter @2025CocaCola600 It happens! Some divisions have a higher ratio of stronger teams so they may have a worse record and still dominate a weaker team with a better record. So I guess they don’t ALL play each other, but they have more of a chance if they’re strong enough to warrant it.
English

@GGGoathalter @_Gassss_ They would have to if they were needed for all sports. Do they not?
