Honestly battle passes are whatever, they are infinitely better than the loot box crazy that was going on, what really "ruined" gaming was how everyone thought they could make there own super successful live service game, many have tired and few succeed.

Western devs think they need to lecture people on looks and shit - People are sick of live service games...but nope, they gotta make more of those If devs spent this much effort, time, and resources focusing on what pleases gamers...the industry would NOT be where it is So we will continue making fun of them when they lose their jobs and actively wish for their failure until they finally get the message👍
