@Dizzy_DPT_Dad I believe Vivistim has all their protocols available if you contact your local rep. Or at least the rep who works with that surgeon. I’ve heard the training is very specific.

Have any neuro PT's worked with a chronic stroke patient post ViviStim implantation? Any rehab pearls? Had my first one today and curious if there are any specific protocols out there?

@NU_DPT Convergence deficits, posterior trunk lean with visual conflict, severe sensory dependency despite relatively normal postural sway patterns, tremor, stooped posture and festinating gait. Also super slow VOR (<60bpm) and dizziness with head turns but no positional nystagmus

@Dizzy_DPT_Dad I will definitely assess and treat cervical joint proprioceptive if MVA, trauma, blast occurred and they have concurrent cervical complaints. If no complaints and they aren’t getting better as I’d expect with vestibular ex, I take a closer look at the neck

@Dizzy_DPT_Dad I don’t have virtual reality goggles so I can’t comment on that. I agree there’s more hypofunction than people realize, especially in older pop. If there’s a postural “dysfunction” and they have neck pain I’ll throw in exercises but it’s not usually the main focus of mine.

It is fascinating (and a little depressing!) how little work on ✨sustainability✨ there is in the Knowledge Translation space. Someone (maybe @RomneyWendy?) tell me I’m wrong and missed some landmark paper/researcher doing great work on this area.

One of the moments I feel the most skilled is when performing a semi annual reassessment in those with progressive neurological conditions. It should be standard practice in these populations.
