This #RedDressDay, we came together at the Strength & Remembrance Pole to reflect on the lives and legacies of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people. May 5 is a time to pause, remember and recommit to listening, learning, and standing alongside Indigenous communities. We are grateful to everyone who joined us, and we remain committed to this work through ongoing training, strengthening relationships, and continued engagement with the communities we serve.

Thinking about riding an e-bike around #NorthVan? Here’s what you should know before you hop on. Riders must be at least 14 for light e-bikes and 16 for standard models. Light e-bikes are pedal-assist only, capped at 250W, and can’t exceed 25 km/h. For all motor assisted cycles, the rules are simple: No more than 500W, no speeds over 32 km/h, and the motor must stop when you stop pedalling or hit the brakes. Curious if your ride makes the cut? Join us this Friday, May 8, for our E-Mobility Safety Blitz from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Lonsdale Quay Seabus Terminal and chat with our team.

Today, we remember those who have lost their lives, been injured, or become ill because of their work. This day is about all workers. In policing, our members are mindful of the risks that can come with the job as they serve their communities. On the National Day of Mourning, the #NorthVan RCMP recognizes the realities faced by first responders and the lasting impact workplace tragedies have on families, friends, and colleagues.
NPF-FPN@npffpn

On this #DayOfMourning, we pause to remember the RCMP Members who have lost their lives, been injured, or faced illness as a result of their service to Canadians. Their dedication and sacrifice, along with the resilience of those who continue to serve, will never be forgotten. We also stand with the families and loved ones who carry the impact of these losses every day. Their strength is a powerful reminder of why support and solidarity matter. The NPF Benevolent Foundation is there for the families of active RCMP Members who pass away, on or off duty, offering care, assistance, and compassion when it’s needed most. 💙 You can help make a difference: npf-fpn.com/donate/ Today, we honour their memory and reaffirm our commitment to safer workplaces and stronger support for all Members. #RCMPNeverForget #RememberTheFallen #SupportOurMembers

Wednesday night officers stopped this L driver travelling 175 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Hwy 1. Their excuse for the speed? Because they were in a rush to get home. That rush earned them an immediate impound, a hefty ticket, a likely licence suspension, and a long walk back to reality. Choices like this put their life, and the lives of others, at serious risk.

This week we said farewell to Romeo after 25 years with the @CityOfNorthVan Facilities Department at the North Vancouver RCMP detachment. Known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and ever-present smile, Romeo was one of the many behind-the-scenes staff who worked tirelessly every day to support our team. Thank you for your years of service, Romeo, and all the best in your well-earned retirement.

We came together last night at @seymourgolf to recognize the people who give their time to support our community, our Road Safety, Block Watch, and Auxiliary Program volunteers. During #NationalVolunteerWeek, it was a chance to pause and acknowledge the steady, behind the scenes work they do, along with a number of meaningful service milestones. To everyone who has volunteered with us, whether recently or over many years, thank you. Your time and commitment help strengthen safety and connection across #NorthVan, and it does not go unnoticed. #ThankYou

Five complaints over weekend highlight growing concerns over illegal e‑dirt bikes. Officers have taken an education‑first approach, as these bikes are relatively new, but enforcement will be increased for those who repeatedly violate the rules. Link to release: bit.ly/48OIzf1

Do you or your kids own an electric motorcycle, also known as an e-dirt bike? These vehicles are NOT street legal. We’ve received reports of youth riding them on public roads, often in a dangerous manner that puts themselves and others at risk. Know the rules before you buy. Scan the QR code for more details.

This is one example of what not to do after buying your first vehicle. After the purchase, a learner driver was found driving without a qualified supervisor, without displaying an “L” sign, and with their rear licence plate improperly displayed. They were stopped by a traffic officer and ticketed for all three offences. A reminder that learning the rules is just as important as learning to drive.
