We are asking for everyone to avoid the area of Custer because of an emergency response to a derailed train. Fire, State Patrol and WCSO Divison of Emergency Management are all on scene. This is an evolving incident. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

Recently hired Division Chief / Fire Marshal Rostov was sworn in during a North Whatcom Fire and Rescue Board of Fire Commissioners meeting on Thursday, May 16, 2019. Fittingly, outgoing Chief Henry Hollander pinned on Rostov's badge.

NWFRS is accepting applications for entry level firefighter. Positions will be filled in July, 2018. Employment applications will be filled out upon request after the initial interview has been completed. The written exam and CPAT are being conducted by PublicSafetyTesting.com

North Whatcom Fire & Rescue teaches CPR and First Classes to the public once a month. CPR for an adult, child & infant along with basic emergency procedures and how to operate an AED (Automated External AED). Classes fill up quickly so register at nwfrs.com.
