NO TSUNAMI THREAT FROM DISTANT EARTHQUAKE NEAR TONGA - 3PM ChST Tuesday, March 24, 2026 A distant earthquake with preliminary magnitude of 7.6 occurred at 2:37 PM ChST near Tonga. No threat to the Marianas. Additional Info: tsunami.gov

Showers will continue to move across Guam through through 8 AM. Thus far, rainfall amounts of 1/10 to 2/10 of an inch have been observed. Additional rainfall amount up to 1/4 of an inch, with locally higher amounts, are expected to occur over the next couple of hours.

Flash Flood Warning including Saipan MP and Tinian MP until 2:30 AM ChST

A Flood Advisory has been issued for locations south and west of Route 8 through 2 PM. Doppler radar indicates 0.5 to 0.7 inches of rainfall has already occurred, with additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch possible through 2 PM. 

We have extended the Flood Advisory to include all of Guam. A line of moderate to heavy rainfall continues to move northeast at 20 mph. Doppler radar indicates rainfall rates up to 2 in./hr remain possible. The advisory is now in effect through 1:15 PM.

A Flood Advisory has been issued for southern Guam, mainly along and south of Cross Island Road. A line of heavy showers is moving northeast around 20 miles an hour and will move into the advisory area over the next hour. Rainfall rate of 1/2 to 1 in./hour are possible.

Saturday, March 7, 2026 - Invest 95 Still Disorganized as It Continues WNW Through W. Micronesia. Locally heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms extend across Yap State. Scattered showers moving into the Marianas and reaching Guam this morning. weather.gov.gum

Invest 95W will begin to impact the Marianas tonight. As the tropical disturbance interacts with a shear line to the north, very heavy rainfall will be possible. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect from 4 AM Saturday to 7 AM Tuesday. #GUWX

Island convection has developed today due to light winds aligned with a favorable direction in relation to the orientation of Wireless Ridge, and a nearby small scale circulation helping to produces some locally-enhanced lift, resulting in a tropical funnel formation.

A High Surf Advisory has been issued for NORTH FACING REEFS through 4 PM Thursday. A High Risk for Rip currents is also in place for the same locations, also through 4 PM Thursday.

Weekly Regional Weather Overview - Tuesday, March 3, 2026 The heaviest showers and thunderstorms are currently found along the near-equatorial trough (NET) and an embedded circulation south of Chuuk. Drier weather has spread across the Marianas weather.gov/gum
