Pets need protection from the heat too. Much like us, water, and frequent breaks in the shade will help keep everyone happy and healthy, but it's best to limit time outdoors if possible. Always look before you look, never leave your pets in a parked car! #azwx #cawx

If work takes you outside during the heat, drink a cup of cool water every 20 minutes, even if you aren’t thirsty. For long jobs, drink a beverage with electrolytes. Find a shady spot to take frequent breaks in. If possible, spend some time in the AC. #azwx #cawx

An extreme early-season heat wave could see temperatures 20-30 degrees above average and record temperatures broken by 10 or more degrees today and tomorrow across the Desert Southwest. Jumping right into summer-like heat puts vulnerable populations at risk. Stay cool and check out weather.gov/safety/heat
