At night, I'm secretly Batgirl. Otherwise, I'm a food lover, nature lover, amateur birder, robot obsessed dork. Libertarian leaning centrist.

Joel seems to think that women’s sports exist as a suicide prevention program for confused boys. Rather than as a way for girls to develop confidence, strength, discipline and resilience. And yeah, as an opportunity for girls to compete. And win.
Joel D. Anderson 🆓@byjoelanderson

i know you don't care if these relative handful of children suffer and even die by suicide so some teenage girl can experience the thrill of winning a race in high school. thanks for sharing your bigotry and lack of empathy with the rest of us. have a bad day.

🇷🇺 This Russian woman needs to be studied. She doesn’t understand why Ukrainians are angry and believes that Russians are compassionate.🤨

The Islamist in Berlin who killed 1 person and injured 29 others has been shot dead. If you don’t jail men who are obviously extremists and a terrorist threat (and keep them there for as long as possible or deport them if you can) they will keep coming and keep bringing death to the streets. The UK govt has lessons to learn. Which they won’t. We have plenty of Abdul Bs of our own.

I'm reminded of Bethany Hamilton, the epic surfer who lost her left arm when she was attacked by a shark at just 13. *𝘋𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘧, 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘧 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘮? 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘴𝘯'𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘬, 𝘴𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨* Rip Curl dumped her because she dared to stand up for women, publicly opposing the World Surf League's policy of letting man in dresses to compete in the women's division. Think about that for a second. They threw away one of the most inspirational athletes on the planet to appease gender ideology. They could have had a genuine sporting icon representing their brand. Instead, they chose men in dresses. I hope corporations are finally waking up to the fact that people are sick of this trans nonsense and, more importantly, that we're prepared to vote with our wallets.

Dear corporate PR teams: You were told backing women who defend women's rights would destroy your brand. Instead, Sophie Cunningham's Adidas release sold out in under 24hrs. Turns out the loudest people on Twitter aren't your customers. Women are. Maybe it's time you remembered that.

Hollywood Golden Age of Cinema
Ann-Margret and Elvis Presley dancing to “C'mon Everybody” in Viva Las Vegas (1964), directed by George Sidney. The film is regarded by Elvis fans and film critics as one of Presley's best films, and it's noted for the real-life on-screen chemistry between Presley and Ann-Margret. Presley and Ann-Margret began an affair, which received considerable attention from film and music gossip columnists, and reportedly led to a showdown with Presley's worried girlfriend Priscilla Beaulieu. (Elvis and Priscilla married in 1967.) In her 1985 book Elvis and Me, Priscilla Presley describes the difficulties that she experienced when the gossip columnists erroneously “announced” that Ann-Margret and Presley had become engaged to be married. In her memoirs, Ann-Margret refers to Elvis Presley as her “soulmate” and stated: “We felt there was a need in 'The Industry' for a female Elvis Presley.” In addition, the filming of Viva Las Vegas reportedly produced unusually heated exchanges between the director, film veteran George Sidney, and Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, who was not credited as a “Technical Advisor” in the film's credits. The arguments reportedly concerned the amount of time and effort allotted by the cinematographer, Joseph Biroc, to the song and dance numbers that featured Ann-Margret, ostensibly on the orders of the director. These scenes include views of Ann-Margret's dancing taken from many different camera angles, the use of multiple cameras for each scene, and several retakes of each of her song-and-dance scenes. David Winters, the film's choreographer, was recommended for the job by Ann-Margret, who was his dance student at the time. This was Winters's first job as a choreographer.
