A European Federation wouldn't have a specific ideological leaning. Announcing to quit European Federalism, because it currently is not what you support is exactly what foreign powers try to achieve. We have to lay our petty differences aside, and work together on building a united European framework that works for everyone, social democrats, liberals, right-wing, progressives, conservatives and many others. The politics of the EU will then be decided by who, at that point gain a majority. But, that again won't be a monolithical force, some countries are more conservative, some progressive. How we deal with that is that most local issues stay local, creating a true separation. The European Federation should mostly act as our shield, it will work as one for other countries, but from the inside, it has flexibility and respects local wishes. Only by having a European of Nations, that respect local differences can we build a strong united Europe. Whatever your ideology may be, let us continue to be United for Europe 🇪🇺

Today I officially ended my membership in the European Federalists. I still believe in the European Union, but I do not support embracing a neoliberal project driven from Brussels by the European right, one that undermines the rights of Europe’s peoples, promotes a senseless arms race — which the poorest will ultimately pay for — and pushes for an accelerated enlargement that disrupts Europe’s political and social balance. In my view, a truly united Europe must be built through a major social reform that guarantees a strong welfare state, sustainable development, and a firm commitment to peace. Furthermore, I find it deeply concerning that, both now and in the future, policies may be imposed that undermine the autonomy of Member States in matters of social policy or foreign affairs. Quite simply, I do not believe this is fair or compatible with a democratic Europe that respects the diversity of its peoples. Perhaps I am moving further to the left, becoming more sovereigntist or autonomist — or perhaps something else entirely. I honestly do not know. But after a great deal of reflection, this is where I stand today. I do not know whether more political changes will come in the next weeks or months, because truthfully I have grown increasingly tired of certain attitudes of political messianism, excessive timidity, and other behaviors that, in my opinion, distance politics from the real concerns of ordinary people.
