At approximately 11 a.m., the Port Authority was conducting its daily morning inspection of LaGuardia’s airfield when crews identified a sinkhole near Runway 4/22. The runway was immediately shut down, and emergency construction and engineering crews are onsite to determine the cause and complete necessary repairs as quickly and safely as possible. The Port Authority is in close communication with airlines and airport partners and will continue providing updates as conditions evolve. Travelers should expect delays and cancellations, particularly with forecast thunderstorms expected later today, and are strongly encouraged to check directly with their airlines for the latest flight status information.

Our East Elmhurst community was shaken by this attack. Relieved the suspect is now in custody. Sending strength and prayers to the victim and her loved ones, and gratitude to first responders for their quick action.

Good evening, Queens. I’m deeply saddened by yesterday’s tragic fire in Flushing. My heart is with the victims, their loved ones, and all those affected. Thank you to our firefighters and first responders for your courage and service. We stand with our Flushing community.

I commend @QueensDAKatz and the Queens County District Attorney’s Office for the apprehension and indictment in the murder of 21-year-old Dashanna Donovan in Elmhurst. Violence shakes our community. This indictment is a critical step, and public safety remains a priority.

My heart is with the families affected by last night’s three-alarm fire in East Elmhurst. I’m grateful to FDNY and all first responders who worked in difficult conditions to keep our community safe. We are following developments and will share information as it becomes available.
