The parents are illegal aliens, not citizens, and their children belong to them. Also, they are not paying taxes, so they are outside the jurisdiction of the law. He left out "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof", what does that mean? This amendment was to turn all slaves through emancipation into citizens, and that is all. Being born here through parents that are citizens (illegal aliens) from another country does not confer birthright citizenship due to them not being subject to the jurisdiction thereof, which also does not provide for that same due process under the law that an actual citizen deserves. We haven’t even touched the damage to U.S. democracy and institutions, or the deliberate division of Americans into “real Americans” and “enemies of the state” who supposedly deserve whatever happens to them. He has repeatedly encouraged hostility toward political opponents, while demonizing immigrants and trans people in ways that strip them of basic humanity. That kind of rhetoric isn’t harmless.
